Champagne, laughs & good vibe Friday night at the ReStart Romania Gala, where 3 of the finalists teams got awarded for restarting things up with their projects! Can you guess how many awards we took home before you finish reading this post?
Let’s ReStart from the beginning!
To sum things up, there were 102 projects submitted for ReStart Romania 2012, but only 23 of them made it to the semifinals, based on online votes and on the jury appreciation. At the end of October, the jury had spoken and the 7 finalists projects were chosen:
• Bucuresti, orasul tuturor – harta accesibilitatii pentru persoane cu dizabilitati
• Legi libere
• Publicam economia publica
• Sexul vs Barza

We ReStarted too
Some of the Zitec members were very excited about the idea of hacking for ReStart Romania so they decided to become part of the teams. Nicu, Vlad R and Vlad S coded for the “Bucuresti, orasul tuturor” project, while Gabi, Adina and Tibi were in the “Publicam economia publica” team. Bogdan U was their 2 in 1 designer in charge for the two projects and he sure did a great job!
The 48 hours Hackaton took place between 2nd and 4th November and the guys say it was pretty fun. They coded at full power, got to know the other teams better, helped with suggestions here and there and enthusiastically made it through the entire event. I’d say it was the calm before the ZiHack storm 🙂
Speaking of the event, we would like to thank the organizers and the restarters for this opportunity – it was a pleasure meeting you and hacking together, guys!
Going big at the Gala
And the pleasure turned into great happiness and huge excitement a couple of days ago at the ReStart Romania Gala. And no, not because we were all at rest and fancy dressed up, but because one of the Zitec projects won! “Bucuresti, orasul tuturor” won, so Silvia Ursu & co will actually get the funding to implement their project – many congrats to you, team!
Close up words
To all restarters and organizers at ReStart Romania: we enjoyed every moment of the hack and hope you did as well. It’s a great challenging event and we’re proud to have been awarded for being part of it. We’re very happy to have hacked with you again and we do hope to see you next year!
